| Abstract | MeteoForum é um projeto piloto objetivando a criação de uma rede internacional dos Centros Regionais de Treinamento em Meteorologia (CRTM) da OMM que trabalham em colaboração com as universidades para fortalecer suas atividades regionais de treinamento/ensino. Através do acesso a uma ampla coleção, desenvolvida internacionalmente, contendo materiais para treinamento, software e dados meteorológicos históricos e em tempo-real, os CRTMs enriquecerão suas atividades educacionais oferecidas aos profissionais de Hidrologia e Meteorologia da região. O MeteoForum possibilitará, via Internet, um forte senso de “comunidade” entre os CRTMs e umiversidades afiliadas através de um intercâmbio de materiais de ensino e dados hidrometeorológicos. A distribuição de grande volume de dados hidrometeorológicos em tempo-real entre as universidades integrantes da Unidata, a UFRJ, o CPTEC e o CRTM localizado na UFPA, está sendo possibilitada pela conectividade da Internet2, fornecida pela RNP. O sucesso na transferência de dados no Brasil conduziu a criação da IDD-Brazil, uma extensão da rede da Unidata IDD, fornecedora de dados em tempo-real para universidades Norte Americanas. Esforços envidados no sentido de estender a distribuição de dados para as universidades brasileiras e ao CRTM da Argentina através da IDD-Brazil e para a America Central e Caribe pela criação do IDD-Caribe serão apresentadas. ABSTRACT: MeteoForum is a pilot project whose goal is the creation of an international network of WMO Regional Meteorological Training Centers (RMTCs) that work collaboratively with universities to enhance their roles of regional training and education. By accessing a comprehensive, internationally-developed collection of training materials, software, and real-time and historical data, RMTCs will be able to enrich the education they offer hydro-meteorological professionals in their region. MeteoForum will build a stronger sense of "community" among the RMTCs through Internet-based interactions and by sharing educational concepts, educational materials, and hydro-meteorological data with one another and with affiliated universities. Sharing of high-volume, real-time, hydro-meteorological data among Unidata universities, the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, CPTEC and the RMTC located at the Universidade Federal do Para has been made possible by Internet2 connectivity provided by Brazil's Rede Nacional de Ensino e Pesquisa (RNP). Initial successes in data sharing have led to the creation of the IDD-Brazil, an extension of the Unidata IDD network that currently provides real-time data to educational institutions throughout North America. Efforts to extend data sharing to Brazilian universities and the Argentinean RMTC through IDD-Brazil, and to Costa Rica, Barbados, and Venezuela through an IDD-Caribe, will be presented. |
